Loving God, You chose Catherine McAuley for the service of your people who are poor, sick and uneducated. You inspired her to found the Sisters of Mercy so that these good works might endure. Give to each of us a portion of her compassionate spirit and an ardent desire to serve your suffering people.

Bless all our undertakings and grant that union and charity may always thrive among us.

Graciously, hear our prayer for Catherine and by granting the favors we ask through her intercession, hasten the day when her sanctity will be celebrated by all the Church. Amen.

Celebrating MERCY Collaboration in the City that Works

Guam delegates

Bernadette Alcantara, Mercy Associate and Director of Formation from Santa Barbara Catholic School, Guam, Sister Francis Jerome Cruz, RSM, President of the Academy of Our Lady of Guam, and Sister Doris San Agustin, RSM, Principal of St. Anthony Catholic School, Guam, attended the XXX Mercy Secondary Education Conference entitled “Celebrating MERCY Collaboration in the City that Works” on October 14-15, 2011 in Chicago, Illinois. Workshop keynote speaker Fr. Michael Garanzini, SJ, President of Loyola University Chicago, presented how teachers and administrators can work together with parents, guardians and other professionals outside the school setting to form today’s youth who are facing so many challenges. Hosted by Mother McAuley Liberal Arts High School Chicago Illinois, the workshop was attended by over 200 participants from Mercy Schools from North and South America, Guam and the Philippines. The participants are looking forward to meeting again for the XXXI Mercy Secondary Education Conference in Cincinnati, Ohio next year.
