Catherine McAuley

Founder of Sisters of Mercy 1778-1841

Loving God, You chose Catherine McAuley for the service of your people who are poor, sick and uneducated. You inspired her to found the Sisters of Mercy so that these good works might endure. Give to each of us a portion of her compassionate spirit and an ardent desire to serve your suffering people.

Bless all our undertakings and grant that union and charity may always thrive among us.

Graciously, hear our prayer for Catherine and by granting the favors we ask through her intercession, hasten the day when her sanctity will be celebrated by all the Church. Amen.

I attended Santa Barbara School from 1972 – 1981. Sister Imelda Marie was one of the strictest teachers that I had but it wasn’t until I left for California in 1981 that I realized just how much I learned from her and how much she meant to me. When I visited Guam in back in 1994 I made it a point to visit her and tell her how I felt. I really enjoyed seeing her face again in the Christmas Greetings on youtube. I live in Fairfield, CA now married to a Jose Maanao, he’s a relative to Sister Gertrude who was also one of my teachers. God Bless you all.
