Catherine McAuley

Founder of Sisters of Mercy 1778-1841

Loving God, You chose Catherine McAuley for the service of your people who are poor, sick and uneducated. You inspired her to found the Sisters of Mercy so that these good works might endure. Give to each of us a portion of her compassionate spirit and an ardent desire to serve your suffering people.

Bless all our undertakings and grant that union and charity may always thrive among us.

Graciously, hear our prayer for Catherine and by granting the favors we ask through her intercession, hasten the day when her sanctity will be celebrated by all the Church. Amen.

Guam Sisters Help Close “Year of Faith”

by Sr. Trinie Pangelinan

On Sunday, Nov. 24, 2013, our Mercy Sisters joined hundreds of people, including numerous youth, to celebrate the ending of the “Year of Faith” in our Archdiocese of Agana.  The event was held at the Ypao Beach Park pavilion.  After a brief Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and the Sunday Liturgy presided by Archbishop Anthony Apuron and concelebrated by a number of the Clergy, there was a concert by a youth band and choir, which kept the audience inspired and entertained.  Even our Sisters joined in on the lively concert!

One of the highlights of the event was the “Vocation Call”, which saw about 30-40 young people answering ‘The Call’ to a possible religious vocation.  They came forth and received a blessing from Archbishop Apuron.  Our Vocation team handed out literature about our Mercy Community to the young ladies and assured them of our prayers for them.  Overall, it was a wonderful spiritual experience for young and old alike.
