Catherine McAuley

Founder of Sisters of Mercy 1778-1841

Loving God, You chose Catherine McAuley for the service of your people who are poor, sick and uneducated. You inspired her to found the Sisters of Mercy so that these good works might endure. Give to each of us a portion of her compassionate spirit and an ardent desire to serve your suffering people.

Bless all our undertakings and grant that union and charity may always thrive among us.

Graciously, hear our prayer for Catherine and by granting the favors we ask through her intercession, hasten the day when her sanctity will be celebrated by all the Church. Amen.

Although “Mercy Action Marianas, Ltd.”, sponsored ministry of the Guam Mercy Community is actually a little older than 13, the ministry was incorporated in June 2002.  For the third year, the venue for the celebration was Government House, thanks to the generosity of Governor Eddie Calvo and First Lady Christine Calvo.  The Board of Directors, headed by Sr. Marian Arroyo, include Sandy Gould-Yow and Amoretta Carlson (Gala Chairpersons), John Weisenberger, Augusto Delgado, Giana-Nicole Pangelinan , Sr. Mary Cabrini Taitano (on sabbatical) and Sr. Trinie Pangelinan-President.

This year, the special donor awardees were Tan (Mrs.) Eugenia Leon Guerrero and Sonny Ada of Ada’s Trust & Investment.  They received a beautiful ifil statue in appreciation of their ongoing generosity and support of MAML over these 13 years.  Local celebrities, Patrick Palomo and Andrew Gumataotao, provided soothing dinner music—augmented by the Sisters’ impromptu singing of “Wake the World” in celebration of the 2015 Year of Consecrated Life and the Suscipe of Catherine McAuley.  The evening was enlivened by emcee, Louise Muna, and the excitement of winning door prizes!
