Catherine McAuley

Founder of Sisters of Mercy 1778-1841

Loving God, You chose Catherine McAuley for the service of your people who are poor, sick and uneducated. You inspired her to found the Sisters of Mercy so that these good works might endure. Give to each of us a portion of her compassionate spirit and an ardent desire to serve your suffering people.

Bless all our undertakings and grant that union and charity may always thrive among us.

Graciously, hear our prayer for Catherine and by granting the favors we ask through her intercession, hasten the day when her sanctity will be celebrated by all the Church. Amen.

Mercy Action Marianas, Ltd. (MAML) Tenth Anniversary Gala

by Sister Trinie Pangelinan

What started out as the annual fundraising event for Mercy Action Marianas, Ltd., (MAML) emerged as a fantastic Tenth Anniversary Gala celebration on September 21, 2012. Through a public-private partnership of the organization with Government House—the official Governor’s residence—and Guam Community College Culinary Arts/Tourism students, assisted by local Chef Bertrande from the former Le Tasi Bistro restaurant, the evening was filled with a sumptuous dinner prepared and served by the GCC students, and enjoyed by friends and supporters of MAML, and of course, the Sisters of Mercy. Also invited to our special event were the “Catherine McAuley Scholarship” recipients from our Mercy schools and nurseries: Academy of Our Lady, Bishop Baumgartner Memorial Catholic School, St. Anthony Catholic School, Santa Barbara Catholic School, Mercy Hts. Nursery/Kindergarten, and Infant of Prague Nursery/Kindergarten.

Sr. Trinie Pangelinan, MAML President, gave a short history of MAML, in conjunction with a slide presentation of MAML’s events over the years, and a DVD of the initial 2003 fundraiser.

Our host, Governor Eddie Calvo, renewed acquaintances with his former teachers at Cathedral Grade School, and delighted in seeing the ongoing work of the Sisters of Mercy. The gala emcee was Patti Arroyo of K-57 Radio, and music was provided by musicians of Emmaus Choir, Joe Sanz and Jon Guerrero. A silent auction of donated items was an added feature of the gala. Capping the event was an impromptu sing-along by the Sisters of Mercy.

  • It was a wonderful evening and a beautiful celebration. The GCC Culinary Class did a wonderful job with the menu and serving the tables.

Congratulations to Sister Trinie and Board Members of MAML.
