PRAYER FOR THE BEATIFICATION OF MOTHER CATHERINE MCAULEY

Loving God, You chose Catherine McAuley for the service of your people who are poor, sick and uneducated. You inspired her to found the Sisters of Mercy so that these good works might endure. Give to each of us a portion of her compassionate spirit and an ardent desire to serve your suffering people.

Bless all our undertakings and grant that union and charity may always thrive among us.

Graciously, hear our prayer for Catherine and by granting the favors we ask through her intercession, hasten the day when her sanctity will be celebrated by all the Church. Amen.

Vocation Promotion In Chuuk

Sr. Cabrini Taitano

Sister Cabrini Taitano (left) representing the Sisters of Mercy, speaks at the vocation promotion panel to encourage religious vocation in Micronesia.

Through the collaborative effort of Sister Cabrini Taitano and the President of the Carolines Catholic Pastoral Institute (CCPI) to encourage religious vocation in Micronesia, students from Saramen Chuuk Academy, College of Micronesia and the CCPI were invited to listen to a panel of speakers representing the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary from the Philippines, the Mercedarian Missionary of Berriz, and the Sisters of Mercy.  To encourage vocation to the priesthood and men’s religious life, a transitional deacon, a candidate and an aspiring young man to the diocesan priesthood were part of the panel.

These speakers shared their vocation stories after which they responded to questions raised by the participants.  Sister Erencia Saipweirik distributed vocation promotion materials of the Sisters of Mercy.

As a follow up of this event, Sister Cabrini and Sister Erencia are inviting a few girls to a “Come and See” experience on February 12, the feast of the Holy Name of Mary at the Mercy Convent.   Highlighting this experience will be welcome remarks while sharing “a comfortable cup of iced tea and explaining the significance of this “ritual”, sing along (Micronesians love to sing!), prayer time, and viewing a Mercy vocation promotion CD.

We invite our sisters and associates to join us in our efforts to promote vocation through their prayers.
